Ecumenical
Endeavors

Ecumenical: adjective - promoting unity among Christian Churches. ORIGIN late 16th cent. (in the sense [belonging to the universal Church] ): via late Latin from Greek oikoumenikos, from oikoumene ‘the (inhabited) earth.’

Endeavors:
noun (plural) - attempts to achieve a goal.  ORIGIN late Middle English (in the sense [exert oneself] ): from the phrase put oneself in devoir [do one's utmost] .
Ecumenical Endeavors is Christian in its origin, and as such, seeks to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ in sacrificial humility.  All its efforts find their impetus from this hermeneutical principle:  the love of God, self, neighbor and enemy.  Ecumenical Endeavors seeks to find working relationships with other people of good will.

Ecumenical Endeavors’ first model event took place in 1996 with the establishment of an annual MessiahSing in Jonesboro, AR.  We celebrated the 16th annual MessiahSing on November 20, 2011 in the Worship Center of Southwest Church of Christ, Jonesboro, AR.  Since 2006, MessiahSing has functioned as a benefit for Helping Neighbors Interfaith Food Pantry and in 2010, Community Services Center was added as a beneficiary to our efforts.  Since 2006, MessiahSing has raised over $10,000.00 to purchase food for those in need.  For more information, go to the drop down menu under Gift of Music Events.

The second model event took place on March 22, 1999, when A Gift of Music, featuring four of the seven movements of Johannes Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem in an English edition by Kelly Craft, was presented to the surviving families, friends, teachers, and staff of the Westside Middle School tragedy in a private setting and a public presentation the following evening.  For more information, go to the Brahms Project drop down menu under Gift of Music Events.

While its activities may not always involve music, Ecumenical Endeavors is an advocate for the understanding that music does have sacramental qualities that can facilitate and nurture the Divine/Human connection which can lead to recovery from traumatic stress
